Growth Mindset
For my growth mindset I wanted to accomplish doing six cutbacks in one surf session and not mess up on any of them. A cut back is when you are riding the the wave and make a change of direction creating an arc on the face of the wave. I decided to do this skill in particular because surfing is something that I do every weekend and I really wanted to improve on so this was the perfect opportunity to work on my surfing skills. I also wanted to find different ways to improve on my surfing other than being inside the water since I don't always get the chance to surf during weekdays. A few ways that I would practice outside of the water was skating and watching surf videos to examine what movements they are doing. After the growth mindset project I continued working on improving my surfing skills since it is my passion I worked on my surfing all around not just the growth mindset skill.

I feel that starting off the year with the growth mindset project was a good way to ensure everyone is on the same track and has that mindset. Personally I had the chance to apply growth mindset to several topics in math an example of one was working with exponents, at first I was really struggling and didn't do so well on that section of the test. I continued practicing, going on Khan Academy, staying in during lunch and eventually I got the hang of it and knew how to do the problems like any other math topic.
Problem I enjoyed the most
The problem I enjoyed working on the most this year had to be the cow problem since it covered many math topics and also how productive I was throughout the problem. What is the cow problem? The problem was that a farmer had a 10ft x 10ft barn and a cow which was attached by a rope to one corner of the barn that measured 100ft and he wanted to find out how much area the cow could graze. Unfortunately the shape wasn't a perfect circle it was more of a heart which made the problem harder as expected. Even though this problem wasn't easy I had a lot of fun working with my group and the part I enjoyed the most had to be when we got all the formulas down and began finding the areas for each shape. When we finally got the answer it felt really good and all the hard work I had put in finally payed off.

Content I enjoyed the most
I can't chose one specific topic that I enjoyed or struggled with in math this year but honors definitely had a mix of both and was one of my highlights because of how much I grew in my math skills. I would say it was a challenge that I enjoyed because I wasn't confused to the point where you have no idea what is going on, it was more of struggling with a certain problem but knowing you have the knowledge to solve it. An example is logarithms because once we began getting into the more complex problems there were a lot of steps and rules you had to follow, and sometimes this would become a struggle but I knew I could figure it out. Logarithms is just one example but this happened with other topics too.

Growth/Future
This year I have grown in many more places than just my math skills
Next year I have decided to take calculus because of other peoples advice and because I know I will get much more out of math here at HTH if I do. I know success won't come easy next year in math so I am planning to stay in during lunch, after school, make study/work groups, and really try and make math as positive and productive as I can for next year. Especially since what matters next year will be the effort and time you put in before the tests not after since revisions don't exist.

Honors
At first I wasn't sure if I was going to join honors but after asking some students and friends I made the decision to join and it was definitely the correct choice. Overall I felt that honors was a great way to challenge myself and get more out of my math class this year and I am also very proud of the grade I finished the class with. Since I had never had math honors before I can't compare it but I personally did enjoy it and it was a positive experience.
During the honors project I found out that it is crucial to balance out the work between your classmates and also to make sure you make a schedule to work on the project. I'm saying this because even though we finished on time and are proud of our work we took time out of other classes to make sure we finished this one and it wasn't the best for the other classes.
Overall the honors structure in my opinion works out perfectly and you do get more out of the class so I don't have much to say about how to improve it for next year.
