Museum of Holocaust LA
This has been one of the most memorable and the field trip that I have ever been on, everything about the field trip was very unique. From the moment we got the architecture of the place was amazing it had a very modern look yet it was very simple and everything seemed to fit in perfectly. Our tour guide also made the museum visit much better since her family had unfortunately been a victim of the holocaust and when she spoke about the history of the holocaust I could feel she was extremely passionate about the topic and it really had an impact on me. After the tour of the museum we were super fortunate to have the chance to meet a holocaust survivor and she talked about what she went through which I can't really describe. She made it seem as if you were there and at the end she had a really positive and optimistic message for all of us. |
Museum of Man - RACE Exhibit
This field trip really gave me a different perspective on humans and how certain people view other races. The map that showed the evolution of humans and how they started to migrate throughout the world was really impressive. I really liked the sort of message this exhibit was trying to put out I think it was trying to show the unfortunate perspectives society has on races and how it has affected them. One of the example was the average total income each race gets yearly, which was something I was aware of but didn't know how bad it was. I also was struck by the controversy about the Redskins and how many people are very against it, I felt like I didn't have much of an opinion in that but I wish I could look through the lens someone who feels offended by the name and symbolism it represents.

San Diego History Center - Jewish Heritage in SD
This exhibit had some really interesting facts and I really liked the way everything was displayed. When we were there we had a worksheet we had to finish which I think was good because we got the chance to pay closer attention to the information and we actually got something out of the museum. The worksheet I had had questions about how the population of Jewish people grew through the years in San Diego I can't remember the numbers of the top of my head but what I can remember is that there was some interesting patterns with the population.
