At this Moment, I AM

DescriptionThis was the first writing piece that we did in the year so that meant a lot because not only are we explaining who we are but it was also the first steps in finding our style as writers. It also helped us find our identity and to be proud for who we are. After going through a few drafts we got our final one which was critiqued by classmates and Ms. Britt so it would be error free, but we didn't stop there. After we finished our final draft we decided to put our story on a piece of wood that was around three inches wide and the height depended on the length depended on how long your story was. I think this gave it a really nice touch and it was a cool way to display our work.

If I could go back and revisit this writing piece I would change it completely especially since now I have a lot to say about where I stand as a teenager. Also not only that but my writing quality I believe has improved so it would change in that way as well. My strength during this assignment was that I had plenty to say about bieng a teenager but looking back at it now since my level of my writing has improved the things that I had to say back then aren't as significant as things that I can say now. Overall I really liked reflecting on this assignment because it was the first one we ever did and looking back at my work and seeing how much I have grown is interesting.n
Original Poem
Reflection |
DescriptionThis poem came from us studying and trying out new styles of poetry. The four different styles that we saw were carpe diem, elegy, free verse and haiku, which was the one I did. The haiku consists of three line, the first and last contain five syllables and the middle has seven. An elegy is a poem that is about death and expressing your feelings towards it which is usually sadness. A carpe diem is trying to convey the message to make the most out off your day, think less about the future. Live on the present. Finally a free verse, says it all in it's name you can do whatever you want, doesn't have to rhyme, it's just free. The reason I chose the haiku as my poem even though we had already done one for each style was because it looked unique compared to the other styles and it was the one I enjoyed writing the most. The picture you can see to the left are my three haiku poems that I wrote, all of the are on different topics, Which are the ocean, trees and the desert. You can click on the link under the picture to read and enjoy my poems.

This was the first time I had ever worked with all three styles of poetry and I had no idea these styles even existed. Personally I enjoyed writing all the different styles of poetry because it was something new and they came out good. The haiku caught my attention because not only is it a poem but to me it also felt like a puzzle, what I mean when I say a puzzle is that everything you put into the poem has to work well together just like the pieces in a puzzle. That was one of the hardest parts of writing the poems, making sure everything worked well together because I had the ideas but I just couldn't make everything work well together. Finally I got everything to work well but it wouldn't have the flow of a sentence that I wanted it to have, which later I found out you don't really need. Overall I am happy with the way all three haiku poems came out and also trying out all the different styles.
Art Story Piece
Reflection |
DescriptionFor this story Ms. Britt put a picture of a work of art on the projector and told us to think about what we saw, thought and wondered about it. Then after a few minutes she told us to create a story I could be about anything but it just had to tie in with the work of art. The thought process that I went thorough when I was looking at the art piece was interesting because at first I was trying to figure out what I was looking at and trying to find every little detail in the art. At some point I also started thinking about what the artist was going through when making this art work. Then I started to think of a story for the assignment and it went

This writing piece was probably one of the most interesting one we did in the whole year because first of all as a teacher you don't know what type of stories you are going to get since everyone thinks differently and as a student the possibilities of what you can write about are endless since you can write about anything. For this writing piece I stepped out of my comfort zone to try to write in the different style and I think it looked and sounded pretty good but I would still have to work more and practice more with that style so that's becomes more comfortable and I can write in that way with ease. I think the hardest part about this assignment was that I didn't know how to start so I got stuck trying to start and I think that kind a held me back a little bit but once I got started I was able to write a lot and that would be one of my strengths that I was that once I got on track I kept going and it was pretty easy to finish.
1st Biographical Article
Reflection |
Description The fact This making process of this article all started off with us interviewing our artist to get information about them. Once we got a good amount of info we started to create articles about our artist but we also got certain topics to write about that were still connected to them. The topic I got was artist inspiration, so I wrote everything from what inspired her to get to where she is now , the materials uses and why they inspire her, and also how her style of art is inspiring.

it was really nice to see how we all came up with an article from scratch and the whole process that we went through to make it. My strengths during this assignment was the revision part of it because every time we had to revise it I always had good stuff to fix and it would make my article much better. Now one of my struggles was that in the first stages of writing these articles we got to a point where we had to share them out and when we did we noticed that all four articles from my group seemed very similar, even though we had different topics but we all had something that was repeated in every single one of them.
